A different day for the inhabitants of El León


Camagüey, Cuba, Dec. 19 – Different organizations of the municipality of Camagüey developed on Wednesday recreational, cultural, sports and health actions in the rural community of El León, in the municipality of Camagüey, to comply with one of the agreements of the Community Work process Integrated We are Continuity.

The above follows the exchange of the political and administrative direction of the territory with the electors, initiated in September of the current year; with this action in the 104th district, the celebrations for the 61st anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution began on January 1, 1959.


Different activities were conducted by the Public Health, Sports, Culture and the Municipal Gastronomy Company, among other organizations, together with the community group of that Camagüey’s settlement, whose main productive line is livestock.

Among the actions stands out a gastronomic and commercial fair, attended by Daniel Fuentes Milanés, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), in the municipality of Camagüey, and representatives of the Assembly of People’s Power at that level.

Horse races were also organized, the rise of the taught stick – also called cucaña -, hidden treasures, soccer games and capture of a taught pig, in which it had a wide participation of children, adolescents, youth and adults.

Other concerns of the electors of the rural community of El León were linked to the repair of the embankment, which is currently over 90 percent of execution.

The Integrated Community Work We are Continuity, becomes an initiative to strengthen the Government’s ties with the people, and together we can solve the problems, find alternatives and also bring the organizations closer to rural settlements.
