National Prize Raúl Ferrer to Camagüey’s writer

Camagüey, Cuba, Jan. 28.- The prestigious agramontino writer Jorge Santos Caballero will receive the Raúl Ferrer National Prize as the best promoter of reading in Cuba in 2019.

The award -conferred by the José Martí National Library- will be awarded at the next International Book Fair in Havana and, according to Santos Caballeros, “this award, first of all, is a personal recognition, but also a prize for Camagüey” .

The essayist, critic, narrator, journalist, curator of plastic arts exhibitions and university professor, Master in Latin American Culture Sciences, ensures that Raúl Ferrer also extols the work of librarians and all promoters of reading the city.

With its project originated in the year 2019, Itinerant Reading Club, Santos has reached educational centers, welfare institutions, disadvantaged areas and nursing homes with the aim of promoting the habit of reading with palpable results.

Similarly, the Camagüey’s writer said that new technologies must be used based on reading because as expressed “the meaning is reading.”

Congratulations to those who know their efforts and enjoy them in the soft region of shepherds and hats, as defined by this half-millenary city Nicolás Guillén, National Poet of Cuba.
