Food production continues as a priority for Camagüey’s citizens

Camagüey, Cuba, Jul 3.- Food production continues to be a priority for the highest authorities of the municipality of Camagüey, who this Friday met with the entire system of Agriculture in the territory.

At the event, which was attended by members of the Branch Delegation, the National Association of Small Farmers, managers of agricultural entities and cooperative presidents, the progress of the spring campaign was evaluated.

In this regard, it should be noted that until the end of June, more than three thousand hectares were planted in the area, a volume higher than that planned until August, although still insufficient.

The productive units have areas with plantain, cassava, pumpkin fruit and other short-cycle varieties such as corn, squash, sweet potatoes and vegetables, some of which are already sold in markets and small plates.

Daniel Fuentes Milanés, president of the Defense Council in the princeña city, called on farmers to plant more and better control what is harvested so that it reaches the population without intermediaries.
