From today, First Virtual Festival of the Cuban Press

Havana, Cuba, Nov. 24.- The First Virtual Festival of the Cuban Press begins today in this capital through videoconferences with all the provinces and media in the country.

Based at the Casa de la Prensa and after the opening ceremony, the first conference bears the name of Innovation and Journalism in the 21st Century, by Dr. Pedro Santander Molina, professor at the University of Valparaíso, Chile.

Juan Carlos Ramírez Heras, director of the Organization of the Cuban Union of Journalists (UPEC), also informed the Cuban News Agency that the rest of the day will be dedicated to the presentation of projects.

He specified that representatives of press organs in Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguín, Las Tunas and Camagüey participate.

An exchange of opinions or doubts about the materials exhibited is expected until next Thursday, when the online event will conclude, under such conditions due to the impact of the atypical severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

On Wednesday 25, Mr. Tubal Páez Hernández, honorary president of the UPEC, will give the conference called Fidel and the Cuban journalists.

Rosa Miriam Elizalde Zorrilla, PhD in Science, first vice president of the organization, will speak about Cuba and its media: the challenge of articulation in the face of the dismantling plan.

These last actions will lead the exhibition of projects and the consequent exchange of the remaining provinces. (ACN) (Photo: Cubaperiodistas) (Translated by Linet Acuña Quilez)
