Electric Union informs on service disruptions

Havana, Cuba, Sep 20.- The Electricity Union (UNE) reported that during the early hours of this Monday there were damages in the service due to the generation capacity deficit, which, it is predicted, will have a maximum affectation at noon of 250 megawatts (MW).

In a press release, the entity states that the thermoelectric power plant (CTE) Otto Parellada, unit seven of the CTE Máximo Gómez, the CTE Antonio Guiteras (in the start-up process), unit six of the CTE are out of service due to a breakdown. Diez de Octubre, unit two of the CTE Lidio Ramón Pérez (in the start-up process) and unit three of the CTE Antonio Maceo.

Work is being done without interruption to resolve these faults and incorporate the blocks into the generation, adds the communication from the UNE.

It specifies that in yesterday’s peak hours, the effect due to generation deficit was 603 MW at 10:30 p.m., higher than planned, because the demand behaved 160 MW above the forecast, in addition to the outputs of the units six from the Antonio Maceo CTE (48 MW) and six from the Diez de Octubre CTE (103 MW).

For today’s peak, the entry of unit two of the CTE Lidio Ramón Pérez with 115 MW, the Pico Varadero Plant with 18 MW is forecast and 225 MW will be used in diesel engines.

It is estimated for peak hours (11:00 am – 1: 00 pm / 6:00 pm – 10: 00 pm) an availability of 2,361 MW and a maximum demand of 2,780 MW, for a deficit of 419 MW. , points out the Electric Union. (ACN) (Photo: Granma)
