Sailin Carbonell: Look again it was my first time

By Claudia Artiles Díaz/Radio Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 24.- Starting from scratch, leaving the comfort of home behind, leaving the comfort zone and exploring a new reality led the young Camagüey actress Sailin Carbonell to embark on her way to the capital of all Cubans.

“Arriving in Havana leaving everything behind was an act of courage. I gave up my family and my job to face a totally unknown world; I still remember, when I arrived I did not know how the dynamics of life worked, but I approached the Teatro la Proa group and they opened their doors for me”.

Three years later, many anecdotes remained for the story of the enterprising girl with large glasses and an endless smile, who had the foundation of her professional career at the Vicentina de la Torre Recio Academy of the Arts.

“I remember school as one of the best things that have happened to me in my life, it gave me the tools to face the artistic world: discipline, dedication and the will to never give up.

Several teachers had an impact on me: Gabriel Castillo, Josvani González, Jesús Vidal Rueda, Freddys Nuñez Estenoz…, and to mention a character, without a doubt, Santa Camila de la Habana Vieja”, Carbonell confessed by telephone.

Sorting out fate was the main goal of the young actress who used ingenuity and cunning to turn the name of a theater festival into a cooking course, as well as face an acting casting for the first time.

That is how Aidana arrived, the black-haired teenager who conquers dreams in the current Cuban television soap opera Vuelve a mira.

“Aidana -I enjoy pronouncing each syllable- is a character who subjected me to various things for the first time, to a casting, to my first job in a blockbuster; Aidana has given me many joys and has taught me, because she is a mature girl to whom life plays a trick on her. She has become my best friend».

What does Camagüey represent for Sailin Carbonell?

“Camagüey is my land. She is a kind of goddess to whom tribute must be paid for the large number of artists that she has given to Cuban culture; And for me it is a challenge, because I feel that I represent it, that I have a very great commitment to my city.

Being from Camagüey has opened doors for me, and I am sure that I will always return to my city, to my land of the jars, where he saw me grow up”.

Among the projects that occupy the future of the actress and audiovisual producer are the participation in the next telenovela of the director Ernesto Fiallo in production Los Niños de Pandora; she will also direct a story within a feature film, as well as a children’s series.

A lover of coffee, social networks and fried rice, Sailin Carbonell burst onto the small screen thanks to Aidana, and her dreams will continue as commitment, perseverance and passion are rewarded, so together Teatro la Proa will continue to grow proud of knowing herself from Camaguey.
