Noviembre, 2021.- Con la presencia del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, el 13 de noviembre de 2001 comienza el Encuentro Hemisférico de lucha contra el Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas (ALCA), que reúne a 679 delegados de 34 países.

La Habana ofrece, con este foro, un espacio al movimiento social americano para enfrentarse a los intentos de crear el ALCA, convocatoria urgente para dar continuidad a la concertación de un amplio y creciente movimiento frente a aquel nuevo intento colonizador de Estados Unidos.
